House in Yackandandah

Divided into three distinct pavilions – parents, kids and living – all opening on to a south facing courtyard.

The house seeks to provide separation and connectedness simultaneously. Externally the house appears as three distinct buildings, connected by a verandah, deck and common building proportions. The decks provide two additional outdoor living rooms.

A garage and workshop is located at the rear of the property – reducing the impact of the facade to the street. Both the window proportions and roof forms echo those of miners cottages and early houses within the district.
